Grooms Makeup... Should men wear makeup on their wedding day?

For me this easy and it’s a big fat YES!

As a makeup artist who specialises in natural, enhancing makeup I wholeheartedly believe grooms should be able to have their makeup done for their wedding days too. My groom makeup style is undetachable and is there to subtlety enhance your features for your wedding photos and to hide any imperfections, helping you feel 1000% confident on your special day.

I’ve recently had a reel on Instagram go viral (currently on 1.5M views and 17.5K likes) on this subject and the comments sparked a lot of controversy which I just couldn’t wrap my head around. Negativity was coming from both men and women and I couldn’t understand why anyone would have such a strong opinion on the subject and it got me thinking. Is it really that controversial?

Men have been wearing makeup for centuries and dates all they way back to 6000 BCE with the Egyptians paving the way for us here in the 21st Century. The Egyptians believed wearing makeup was godlike, both men and women of any social class would wear makeup so they would appeal to the gods.

No matter who you are, makeup is just a tool to create art and our face is the canvas.

This also circles me back to conversations I have all the time with my couples and wedding planning. At the end of the day, it’s your wedding and you need to do all the things you want for YOUR special day. So book the MUA, go big with the florals, get the band you really want and make the day yours and one to remember!
